My Life In Song

I don’t know about other people, but I could literally tell my life story in song lyrics. Somehow I have an innate ability to encounter JUST the right song at JUST the right time. I won’t lie…often it’s Hanson. Yes. That Hanson. Their albums always speak straight to my heart and to what I’m encountering in my life at that time. But Hanson is a topic for another moment.

Recently I came across a new song that is a perfect musical interpretation of something going on in my life right now. Christina Aguilera and the group, A Great Big World, performed it on The Voice on November 5th. It caught me by the heartstrings and shook me to the core. And I can’t stop listening.

‘Say Something’ by A Great Big World

Say something, I’m giving up on you.
I’ll be the one, if you want me to.
Anywhere, I would’ve followed you.
Say something, I’m giving up on you.

And I am feeling so small.
It was over my head
I know nothing at all.

And I will stumble and fall.
I’m still learning to love
Just starting to crawl.

Say something, I’m giving up on you.
I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you.
Anywhere, I would’ve followed you.
Say something, I’m giving up on you.

And I will swallow my pride.
You’re the one that I love
And I’m saying goodbye.

Say something, I’m giving up on you.
And I’m sorry that I couldn’t get to you.
And anywhere, I would have followed you.
Oh-oh-oh-oh say something, I’m giving up on you.

Say something, I’m giving up on you.
Say something…

Have you ever had this kind of moment? Does anyone else encounter it as frequently as I do?
